About this job
NVIDIA has been transforming computer graphics, PC gaming, and accelerated computing for more than 25 years. It’s a unique legacy of innovation that’s fueled by great technology—and amazing people. Today, we’re tapping into the unlimited potential of AI to define the next era of computing. An era in which our GPU acts as the brains of computers, robots, and self-driving cars that can understand the world. Doing what’s never been done before takes vision, innovation, and the world’s best talent. As an NVIDIAN, you’ll be immersed in an inclusive, supportive environment where everyone is inspired to do their best work. Come join the team and see how you can make a lasting impact on the world.
We are looking for a Senior Staff AI Engineer to join the Finance AI team at NVIDIA. In this role, you'll design, build, evaluate, and operate the AI-powered applications, agents, and automation that Finance runs on. You'll direct your own fleet of coding agents, onboard exciting new tools and technologies, and leverage deep business knowledge to point the right technology at the right problem. This is primarily an applied engineering role — building on top of foundation models — with opportunities to identify and showcase where customized Nemotron models beat prompting and retrieval.
What you’ll be doing:
- Develop and own agentic systems end to end — from scoping the problem with finance partners through the eval harness, retrieval quality, and cost that keep them reliable in production.
- Set the architecture, shared primitives, patterns, and quality bars others build on — mentoring engineers and representing AI engineering to Finance and NVIDIA leadership.
- Stay at the frontier of applied AI: test new models, agent frameworks, retrieval techniques, and tooling as they emerge. Run hands-on experiments and turn what you learn into clear build/no-build calls.
- Partner with the model team to leverage, fine-tune, and post-train NVIDIA's Nemotron models for finance use cases.
What we need to see:
- Master's or PhD (or equivalent experience) in computer science, engineering, data science, or a related technical field.
- 12+ years building and operating production systems including 3+ years with LLM/agent systems.
- A track record as a core technical contributor, shipping multiple LLM-powered applications or agents and owning them in production.
- Hands-on experience with skill-based workflows, harnesses, agent orchestration frameworks.
- Expertise with advanced retrieval techniques plus deep, hands-on expertise designing evaluations and observability for LLM systems.
- Strong Python and solid engineering fundamentals, extensive experience with agentic and adversarial software engineering, an understanding of LLM security and safety risks, and a practical understanding of networks and operating systems.
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
- Technical influence without authority — able to align engineers and business leaders on hard calls and set direction across teams you don't manage.
- Experience with NVIDIA's applied AI stack, plus recognized expertise in applied AI such as conference talks, open-source contributions, or published work.
- Large tech company and / or finance-adjacent experience.
- Depth across fine-tuning and reinforcement learning techniques.
