About this job

Every customer who contacts Amazon trusts us with their data. Customer Service Application Security keeps that promise for one of Amazon's largest businesses. We threat model new designs, test security controls, investigate issues and build automation that makes security the default for every team that ships.

As our Technical Program Manager (TPM), you'll turn security strategy into launched results. You'll own programs end to end, from security assurance on major launches to automation that scales across teams. You'll weigh risk, cost and speed, and see how design choices ripple through architecture and dependencies. Spot a design that's too risky? You'll pull in senior engineers and escalate to leadership early.

You'll keep momentum when priorities shift. You'll partner with security engineers, software development engineers (SDEs) and engineering managers to secure resources, set milestones and define success metrics. You'll own schedule, scope and communication, clear blockers and plan rollouts that keep connected systems running.

You'll shape where we go next through PR/FAQs (press release and frequently asked questions documents), narratives and Operating Plan (OP1/OP2) inputs. You'll protect builders from burnout, mentor others and help hire the people who grow this team. If you love moving between strategy and execution and care about the customers behind the data, let's talk.

Key job responsibilities

  • Own security programs end to end, from requirements and threat modeling through implementation, launch, and post-launch support.
  • Turn ambiguous security goals into specifications, prioritized milestones and success metrics.
  • Partner with security engineers, software development engineers, and engineering managers to secure resources and gain buy-in.
  • Own schedule, scope, and communication. Clear blockers and plan rollouts that keep programs running.
  • Drive adoption of security automation and guidance across partner teams.
  • Manage third-party providers and evaluate emerging tools.
  • Run Correction of Error (COE) reviews and fold the lessons into future plans.
  • Apply Agile, Lean or Kaizen methods to streamline security work.
  • Write PR/FAQs (press release and frequently asked questions documents), narratives and Operating Plan (OP1/OP2) inputs. Mentor others and help hire.

A day in the life

As a TPM, you're the delivery lead on our high-priority programs. Your morning might start by aligning security engineers and partner teams on scope and milestones for a major launch. Next, you flag a risky dependency and pull in a senior engineer before it slips the schedule. Later, you drive a decision that unblocks adoption of new security automation, or draft a narrative that shapes next year's plan. You'll end the day mentoring a teammate or interviewing a candidate. Every day, you're turning security strategy into launched results that protect customer data.

About the team

Customer Service Application Security protects customer data for one of Amazon's largest internal business units. We're reimagining how security integrates with development, building intelligent automation that keeps customers safe while accelerating delivery.

We're a collaborative team of Security Engineers, Technical Program Managers, and SDEs who move fast, value ownership, and invest heavily in each other's growth. We bridge the gap between security and engineering by championing secure coding standards, building tools that reduce friction for developers, and embedding security early through guardrails and paved paths. We stay ahead through continuous research into emerging threats and new techniques and best practices.
