We are looking for a Product Manager to fill a critical role on our product management team, where you will drive product design and deployment of product services for our clients. You will do so in an exciting environment driven by a desire to enable more efficient and effective care.

About The Team:

At athenahealth, we build technology that helps medical groups get paid accurately and on time. As part of this team, you will help redesign and build the core medical billing workflows and tools that help practices capture charges, validate billing details, and move work forward with confidence—so providers and staff can spend less time on administrative tasks and more time on patient care.

We are a passionate team of product, engineering, UX, and analytics professionals driven to maximize revenue cycle efficiency and effectiveness for our athenaCollector clients.

Position Summary:

But enough about us; let’s talk about you. You are a healthcare revenue cycle expert and passionate problem solver at heart. You are fluent in technology and eager to grow and deepen your skills and impact as the industry evolves. You know how to energize cross-functional teams around a problem and use data to identify and prioritize solutions. You push and strive toward the best long-term solution while executing against that plan day-to-day.  You can make tough trade off decisions between scope and schedule, while maintaining true focus on outcomes.

This is a hybrid role based in our Boston, MA office with an in-office expectation of one day/week.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Own and drive the product roadmap and prioritization of customer needs for Value Based Care practices
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with counterparts and stakeholders in engineering, UX, analytics, product operations, and other teams throughout the organization
  • Create clear product requirement documentation articulating business requirements for the problems we’re trying to solve - including UX/CX/Support requirements
  • Understand the market opportunity re: user needs, market forces, and applicable business models; with regards to what would best serve our clients today as well as in the future
  •  Identify and track metrics and success criteria to create transparency and visibility to program success and opportunities for improvement
  • Partner with Product Management leaders to be the voice of product decisions within the organization; assist leaders in identifying business opportunities that will drive product success

  • Strong understanding of Value Based Care, ambulatory practice operations, healthcare revenue cycle, and health IT systems is required
  • 5+ years overall professional experience required; 2-4 years of formal product management experience, or related experience, preferred
  • Understanding of product management best practices, including agile development
  • Demonstrated success at driving innovation in a dynamic environment using analytic and/or AI capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to frame problems and potential solutions effectively for peers and key stakeholders around the company

About athenahealth

Our vision: In an industry that becomes more complex by the day, we stand for simplicity. Our award-winning culture is built around shared values of inclusiveness, accountability, and support.

Our DEI commitment: Our vision of accessible, high-quality, and sustainable healthcare for all requires addressing the inequities that stand in the way. That's one reason we prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion in every aspect of our business, from attracting and sustaining a diverse workforce to maintaining an inclusive environment for athenistas, our partners, customers and the communities where we work and serve.

What we can do for you:

Along with health and financial benefits, athenistas enjoy perks specific to each location, including commuter support, employee assistance programs, tuition assistance, employee resource groups, and collaborative  workspaces  — some offices even welcome dogs.

In addition to our traditional benefits and perks, we sponsor events throughout the year, including book clubs, external speakers, and hackathons.
