ABOUT THE ROLE
Inkhouse is searching for a Vice President who will serve as the strategic lead across a portfolio of client accounts, acting as a trusted senior advisor and executive-level client contact while providing overall strategic direction, quality oversight, and team leadership. This role will own the higher-level strategy across accounts, including media, amplification, integrated campaigns, messaging, and go-to-market strategy, while ensuring teams maintain strong day-to-day execution and consistently deliver work that advances client goals.

The ideal candidate is a strategic, creative, and confident communications leader with experience working across technology and healthcare clients, who can build trusted relationships with senior client executives, including VPs of Marketing and CMOs, and provide thoughtful counsel across complex communications challenges and opportunities. Healthcare communications experience is preferred, particularly experience supporting clients in the healthcare space. They will oversee the quality of client work, develop and pitch new business, identify opportunities to grow and strengthen client relationships, and serve as a champion of Inkhouse values and collaborative leadership. In addition to client leadership, this role will contribute to practice development, employee development, thought leadership, and the continued growth and evolution of Inkhouse.

Location: This role is based in our New York, NY or Waltham, MA office on a hybrid basis, in-office 2-3 days in the office per week.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Own overall strategy across a portfolio of client accounts, serving as the senior strategic lead and trusted advisor while providing high-level counsel across communications, messaging, media, amplification, and go-to-market strategy.
  • Develop and oversee high-level media and amplification strategies, ensuring teams are identifying the strongest opportunities to build visibility, influence, and meaningful business outcomes for clients.
  • Serve as a senior client contact on strategy, building trusted relationships with executive-level stakeholders and providing counsel across a range of communications challenges, opportunities, and business priorities.
  • Maintain a clear view of both strategic priorities and day-to-day account activity, ensuring teams remain focused on client objectives, advancing work consistently, and addressing issues proactively.
  • Lead and contribute to new business efforts, including developing presentations and independently pitching prospective clients without SVP oversight, as well as screening and vetting prospects in partnership with senior leadership.
  • Understand and apply integrated communications capabilities, developing cross-program campaign strategies for clients with large or complex budgets and identifying opportunities to bring together capabilities across channels.
  • Lead and develop high-performing teams by modeling Inkhouse values, promoting a culture where team success is shared across levels, and helping employees at all levels achieve team and client objectives.
  • Champion employee growth and development through regular check-ins, performance conversations, coaching, feedback, and development planning, helping team members build their skills, achieve their goals, and advance their careers.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • 10+ years of experience in public relations, communications, or a related field, with a track record of increasing responsibility, strategic leadership, and senior-level client ownership.
  • Demonstrated expertise and enthusiasm for working with technology clients, with healthcare communications experience preferred. Strong understanding of the media landscape and the ability to translate industry and market trends into compelling communications strategies.
  • Proven ability to serve as a strategic advisor to senior executives, including VPs of Marketing, CMOs, and other executive stakeholders, with the judgment and confidence to provide clear counsel across complex business and communications challenges.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop compelling narratives, strategic recommendations, client communications, presentations, and other high-impact materials.
  • Strong media relations expertise and a strategic approach to developing high-level media, thought leadership, speaking, award, social, amplification, and integrated communications strategies.
  • Proven ability to identify compelling stories, creative angles, business opportunities, and new ways to create value for clients and grow existing relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee multiple client accounts and teams, maintain a strategic perspective while ensuring strong execution, exercise sound judgment, and uphold a high standard of quality.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop teams, delegate effectively, provide thoughtful feedback, and foster a collaborative, high-performing environment grounded in shared accountability.
  • Demonstrated business development experience, including developing new business presentations, pitching prospective clients, evaluating competitive opportunities, and identifying opportunities to expand existing client relationships.
