About this job
Who we are looking for
We are seeking an accomplished product executive to serve as Alpha Chief Product Officer, owning the integrated product strategy and roadmap across State Street Alpha and its businesses. This leader will set priorities and make investment trade-offs that balance client needs, platform scalability, and long-term growth as Alpha transitions to a standardized, product-led platform model.
The successful candidate is a commercially minded platform leader who has scaled enterprise software and data products in the investment management industry, and who can unify front-, middle-, and back-office product lines into a single, coherent front-to-back offering.
Why this role is important to us
Alpha Platform & Software is central to State Street’s growth strategy. Our front-to-back offering — uniting investment servicing, data, and markets with Charles River’s front-office leadership — is the capability that most clearly distinguishes State Street in a market where clients are consolidating providers and seeking integrated, data-driven platforms.
The Alpha Chief Product Officer sets the product agenda that determines how quickly we convert that differentiation into client outcomes, revenue growth, and platform scale.
What you will be responsible for
As Alpha Chief Product Officer you will:
- Own the integrated, multi-year product strategy and roadmap spanning Alpha and Charles River Development, ensuring a single set of priorities across front office, middle office, data, interfaces, and platform.
- Make and defend investment trade-off decisions across the portfolio, balancing client commitments, platform scalability, technical debt, and long-term growth.
- Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle — strategy, definition, development, release readiness, and commercialization — with clear ownership of outcomes and measurable KPIs.
- Partner with the Alpha Chief Technology Officer on architecture, engineering quality, modernization, and platform resilience so that product ambition and technical execution stay aligned.
- Partner with the President & Head of Charles River Development on CRD product innovation and its integration into the Alpha platform.
- Partner with the Chief Client & Growth Officer and the Head of Service Delivery to translate client demand and delivery feedback into roadmap priorities and a more seamless client experience.
- Embed AI and data capabilities across the product set, advancing differentiated client value responsibly and at scale.
- Establish product governance, pricing and packaging discipline, and release readiness standards across the portfolio.
- Lead, develop, and scale a global product management organization, including regional product leadership across EMEA, APAC, and Wealth.
- Serve as a member of the Alpha Platform & Software leadership team and represent the product agenda with clients, prospects, regulators, and the State Street Operating Group.
What we value
These skills will help you succeed in this role:
- Executive presence and credibility with sophisticated institutional clients and internal senior stakeholders.
- Decisiveness in prioritization — the judgment to say no and the discipline to sustain a focused roadmap.
- Deep commercial acumen, including P&L orientation, pricing strategy, and revenue accountability.
- Ability to lead through a global matrix and build alignment across technology, operations, delivery, and sales.
- A collaborative, One State Street mindset that reduces fragmentation and strengthens ownership of client outcomes.
- Strong risk excellence orientation, with sound judgment on controls, regulatory expectations, and platform resilience.
Education & preferred qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in product leadership within enterprise software, financial technology, or asset servicing, including significant time at the executive level.
- Demonstrated ownership of a large, multi-product platform portfolio with full lifecycle and commercial accountability.
- Direct experience with front-to-back investment operating models, order management and portfolio management systems, investment data platforms, or comparable institutional capabilities.
- Proven record of scaling a global product organization and of leading product transformation in a complex, regulated environment.
- Experience operating as a member of a senior leadership team with board- and executive-level exposure.
