This role is part of a high-performing team of IP professionals operating across multiple entertainment business lines simultaneously. The position reports to Senior IP Counsel and is based in Culver City, CA, USA.

A day in the life

Your day centers on managing trademark and copyright matters across Amazon's Global Media and Entertainment Businesses - including Amazon MGM Studios, Prime Video, Luna, Twitch, Music, and Audible. You conduct trademark clearances, manage a global trademark portfolio, and develop enforcement strategies — while providing IP counsel to creative, marketing, and product teams on new titles, campaigns, and content launches. You translate complex trademark and copyright issues into actionable recommendations for business stakeholders and senior leadership. You also negotiate IP terms in licensing and distribution deals and build scalable IP processes and best practices across Amazon's entertainment ecosystem.

Basic Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
  • 5+ years of post bar admission legal experience
  • 5+ years of experience with trademark and copyright matters (including clearance, prosecution, enforcement, licensing, and drafting) related to digital content, filmed entertainment, gaming, and/or audio media.
  • Experience managing a trademark portfolio consisting of domestic and foreign marks.
  • Experience leading investigations and negotiations to resolve third-party copyright and trademark disputes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as in-house attorney
  • Experience with complex commercial/legal concepts and drafting, ability to quickly read and interpret legal terminology and reasoning
  • Experience using strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills, or experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
  • Expert-level knowledge of trademark and copyright issues, opportunities, and best practices for companies in the entertainment and digital media space.
  • Experience working across both brand-level and content-level IP matters.
  • Experience supporting IP matters in gaming, interactive entertainment, podcasting, audio content, and/or consumer products/merchandising.
  • Ability to translate IP issues to members of the creative, marketing, business, management, and legal teams.
