Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.

When you join Caterpillar, you’re joining a global team who care not just about the work we do – but also about each other.  We are the makers, problem solvers and future work builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities.  We don’t just talk about progress and innovation here – we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live.  Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.

Our teams work together in critical areas that leverage digital capabilities, technology and operational excellence.

As an Information Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for leading the design and delivery of SAP Service Parts Planning (SPP) solutions that support Caterpillar’s global parts distribution network. You will partner with business and technical teams to translate service parts planning needs into scalable solutions across demand management, forecasting, inventory planning, distribution requirements planning, and deployment. You will also play a key role in the transformation to SAP S/4HANA extended Service Parts Planning (eSPP), helping modernize capabilities, deliver system enhancements, coordinate testing and releases, and ensure solutions achieve meaningful business outcomes.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead SAP Service Parts Planning (SPP) enhancements and strategic projects from initial requirements through solution design, testing, deployment, and post-release support.

  • Partner with business and technical teams to understand service parts planning needs and translate them into scalable SAP solutions.

  • Design and enhance solutions supporting demand management, forecasting, inventory planning, distribution requirements planning (DRP), deployment, and parts supersession.

  • Play a key role in the transformation from SAP SCM SPP to S/4HANA extended Service Parts Planning (eSPP), including fit-gap analysis, migration planning, testing, and cutover activities.

  • Identify opportunities to leverage standard SAP capabilities, simplify existing customizations, and support a sustainable clean-core S/4HANA environment.

  • Provide technical and functional leadership across SAP SPP and integrated systems, including gATP, ECC, and EWM, while partnering with development and integration teams.

  • Lead testing, release readiness, and production deployment activities to ensure solutions meet business, performance, security, and operational requirements.

  • Evaluate emerging eSPP capabilities, including advanced forecasting, predictive lead times, and inventory optimization, and help determine opportunities for business adoption.

  • Lead resolution of complex planning, integration, and business-process issues and provide support during critical releases or production events.

  • Maintain solution documentation, support user adoption, and continuously improve processes based on business outcomes and system performance.

What You Have (Basic Requirements):

  • Experience supporting SAP S/4HANA transformations or migrations, including fit-gap analysis, data migration, custom code remediation, testing, and cutover planning.
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA extended Service Parts Planning (eSPP) or similar service parts planning transformations.
  • Strong knowledge of ABAP, BAdIs, user exits, CIF, IDocs, APIs, and SAP integrations, with the ability to evaluate designs and troubleshoot complex solutions.
  • Experience leading large, cross-functional SAP projects and enhancements from requirements and design through testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Experience with service parts or aftermarket supply chains, particularly inventory planning, replenishment, forecasting, or global parts distribution.
  • Familiarity with complementary SAP technologies such as gATP/aATP, EWM, BTP, or Fiori.
