About this job

Do you have a passion for helping state and local governments and educational institutions deliver better outcomes for constituents, students, and communities? Do you have a knack for helping public sector customers build a deep understanding of cloud and AI platforms, and the leadership skills to launch and ramp cloud and AI initiatives on a trajectory to success?

Above all, are you driven to lead a dynamic team of Solutions Architects bringing the latest in cloud computing and generative/agentic AI to bear on the cost, agility, and mission challenges facing public sector customers and the surrounding ecosystem of ISVs, systems integrators, and resellers? Do you want to be a key part of a growing, respected business development and sales team helping to establish Amazon Web Services (AWS) as the leading cloud and AI platform across State & Local Government and Education?

AWS is looking for a highly motivated, technically deep Solutions Architect Manager to lead a team of Solutions Architects (SAs) supporting a sales and business development team covering State & Local Government and Education customers in Texas. You will be a leader who leads by example. Your experience building and managing high-performance teams will help accelerate our growing business. In collaboration with sales, you will drive revenue growth and cloud adoption across a broad set of SLG/EDU customers.

As a Solutions Architect Manager within AWS Worldwide Public Sector, you will contribute to shaping and delivering on a strategy to help customers succeed with cloud migrations, application modernization, data modernization, generative/agentic AI, and other emerging technologies. Building on your technical breadth and depth across security, networking, storage, AI, and application architecture, you will have expertise in AWS technologies and a strong understanding of how applications and services are best built and operated in the cloud, along with a rich understanding of IT security and compliance.

You will lead and mentor a team of highly talented SAs, helping them set and surpass their goals and develop their talents and careers. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented, roll-up-your-sleeves environment that requires a passion for innovation, the ability to deal with ambiguity, and the ability to scale and influence broadly.

This role is based in Austin, TX or Dallas, TX. Up to 30% travel is expected.

Key job responsibilities

Lead a team of Solutions Architects in driving adoption and market share for AWS across SLG/EDU customers through technical engagements.

Hire, on-board, develop, and coach Solutions Architects; be a player-coach who builds a robust, high-performing team.

In partnership with sales, own the technical strategy and pipeline for your segment, educating customers on the value proposition of AWS and participating in architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful production deployment.

Drive adoption of cloud and AI-powered solutions — own the generative/agentic AI roadmap for your team, converting early pilots into production workloads and removing the technical and procurement barriers.

Build deep relationships with decision makers within customer accounts to enable them to be AI and cloud advocates.

Coach Solutions Architects to conduct one-to-few and one-to-many sessions that transfer deep technical skills to customers considering or using AWS.

Guide the development of reference architectures, whitepapers, and other high-value, customer-facing guidance, and capture and share best-practice knowledge across the AWS SA community.

Work with internal and external partners and OEMs to extend reach and drive adoption of AWS solutions, and act as a conduit between customers, service engineering teams, and support.
