Job Description
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an exceptional emerging strategy professional to help shape the future of a >$3B global consumer electronics business.
Our business spans the full consumer value chain—from consumer insights, product strategy, design, and development through marketing, sales, and supply chain. This creates a unique opportunity to influence both long-term business direction and the product portfolio choices that drive growth and profitability.
This role is ideal for someone who combines structured strategic thinking, exceptional written communication, analytical curiosity, and a highly collaborative working style.
The successful candidate will be comfortable starting with an ambiguous business question, working across functions to define the problem, developing frameworks and hypotheses, and identifying the data and insights needed to test potential solutions. Equally important, they must be able to distill complex strategies and analyses into clear, persuasive written narratives that support decisions at the executive and Board of Directors level.
We are particularly interested in candidates with a foundation in top-tier management consulting who are eager to move from advising businesses to directly influencing strategic choices and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Problem Framing & Hypothesis Development
- Lead the structured definition of complex, often ambiguous business problems, translating broad strategic questions into clear issues, analytical frameworks, and testable hypotheses.
- Collaborate closely with functional leaders and subject matter experts to develop an understanding of the business, challenge assumptions, and identify the most important questions to answer.
- Apply hypothesis-driven problem-solving techniques to focus analytical efforts on the highest-impact issues.
- Identify relevant internal and external data sources, determine what evidence is needed, and develop practical approaches to testing hypotheses.
- Synthesize quantitative and qualitative findings, refining hypotheses as new information emerges.
- Balance analytical rigor with pragmatism, recognizing when sufficient evidence exists to support a strategic recommendation.
2. Executive Communication & Strategic Storytelling
- Translate complex strategic thinking, business analyses, and cross-functional inputs into concise, compelling written narratives for senior executives and the Board of Directors.
- Develop high-quality strategy memoranda, executive briefs, decision papers, and strategic recommendations that make complicated issues easy to understand.
- Structure communications around clear conclusions, supporting evidence, strategic implications, and decisions required.
- Distill large amounts of information into the essential insights, trade-offs, and recommendations without losing critical nuance.
- Tailor communications to different audiences, from working-level teams to executive leadership and the Board.
- Establish a high standard for clarity, precision, logical flow, and persuasive business writing.
3. Business Unit & Product Portfolio Strategy
- Support development of the business unit's multi-year strategy, including growth opportunities, competitive positioning, market priorities, and investment choices.
- Partner with Product Management, Consumer Insights, Finance, and other functions to develop and refine product portfolio strategies.
- Evaluate consumer needs, market dynamics, competitive trends, product economics, and portfolio performance to inform strategic decisions.
- Develop business cases and strategic scenarios to evaluate growth opportunities, portfolio alternatives, and resource allocation.
- Connect product portfolio recommendations to broader business objectives, financial performance, and long-term competitive advantage.
4. Collaborative Discovery & Cross-Functional Engagement
- Build trusted relationships across Product Management, Design, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Supply Chain.
- Approach new strategic challenges with curiosity, humility, and a genuine desire to learn from those closest to the business.
- Facilitate working sessions that bring structure to complex discussions, surface diverse perspectives, and establish shared understanding of problems and opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with subject matter experts to identify relevant information, test assumptions, and develop fact-based conclusions.
- Constructively challenge existing thinking while remaining open to alternative perspectives and new evidence.
- Build alignment and influence decisions through strong reasoning, credibility, and collaboration rather than positional authority.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Typically 2–5 years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, or a similarly rigorous analytical environment.
- Outstanding written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to translate complex business issues into concise, logically structured, executive-ready memoranda and recommendations.
- Strong command of structured problem-solving methodologies, including issue definition, analytical frameworks, hypothesis development, and hypothesis testing.
- Demonstrated resourcefulness in identifying, gathering, and analyzing data to answer complex business questions, including situations where information is incomplete or difficult to access.
- Ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative information into actionable strategic insights.
- Highly collaborative working style, strong listening skills, intellectual humility, and the ability to learn quickly from cross-functional experts.
- Strong business judgment, intellectual curiosity, and comfort navigating ambiguity.
Preferred
- Experience at a leading strategy consulting firm such as McKinsey, Bain, BCG, or a comparable organization.
- Experience developing executive-level strategy documents, investment recommendations, or Board-facing materials.
- Exposure to consumer electronics, technology, consumer products, or other innovation-driven businesses.
- Experience in growth strategy, product portfolio strategy, corporate strategy, or commercial due diligence.
- MBA or advanced degree is a plus, but not required.
What Success Looks Like
The successful candidate will:
- Bring clarity and structure to ambiguous strategic questions, helping leadership focus on the issues that matter most.
- Build effective partnerships with business leaders and functional experts, demonstrating curiosity and credibility during the discovery process.
- Develop thoughtful, evidence-based hypotheses and know how to efficiently find the information needed to validate or challenge them.
- Produce exceptionally clear strategy memoranda that enable executives and Board members to quickly understand complex issues, evaluate trade-offs, and make informed decisions.
- Contribute meaningfully to business unit and product portfolio strategies that influence long-term growth and competitiveness.
