Federal pay and the seniority ladder

Median floor up the seniority ladder

Bars follow the ladder, not the value. The black line spans the 25th to 75th percentile.

The $100K floor removes most entry and mid-level postings, so the juniors left are the best-paid ones. Read steps between levels as a description of this sample, not of careers.

What this does not tell you

  • What anyone is paid. A range is an advertisement. Where an offer lands inside it is not something job postings show.
  • The whole job market. Every posting in the pay statistics has a floor of $100K or more, so the sample is selected upward by design. Postings below $100K, and jobs with no posted pay, are not in them.
  • Hiring. A posting removed from a board may have been filled, paused, moved or cancelled. We only see that it was removed.
  • Employers we do not read. Companies that do not publish pay, or whose boards we do not monitor, are absent.
  • Long trends. Pay statistics are tracked since Oct 24, 2026 and posting flow since Oct 6, 2026. Every trend shows its start date.
