About this job
Are you ready to help build and manage the supply chain that powers one of the world's largest and most reliable cloud infrastructures? Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a collaborative and results-driven Manager II, Data Center Materials to lead a team responsible for the logistics and inventory operations that keep our data centers running. In this role, you will manage a team of materials professionals, drive operational performance, and optimize inventory strategies to ensure the right equipment is in the right place at the right time. You will partner across infrastructure teams to solve complex supply chain challenges, improve processes, and deliver measurable impact at scale. If you are a people-focused leader who thrives on building high-performing teams and streamlining operations, we want to hear from you.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of data center materials professionals by setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback, facilitating career growth conversations, and establishing customized onboarding plans for new team members.
- Develop and implement inventory optimization strategies that balance stock levels, accommodate demand fluctuations, minimize costs, and improve order fulfillment across data center operations.
- Drive operational excellence by establishing team metrics, monitoring service-level performance, auditing work quality, and identifying risks before they become roadblocks — escalating when appropriate.
- Partner with cross-functional infrastructure and stakeholder teams to streamline logistics operations, resolve supply chain challenges, and align materials delivery with business priorities.
- Identify and lead process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and strengthen the end-to-end materials management lifecycle.
A day in the life
You will start your day reviewing inventory dashboards and operational metrics to understand current stock positions and any emerging supply risks. From there, you might join a cross-functional meeting to coordinate upcoming equipment deliveries, then shift to a one-on-one with a direct report to discuss their development goals. Afternoons could involve analyzing demand forecasts, refining logistics workflows, or collaborating with partner teams on capacity planning. Throughout it all, you are balancing tactical execution with strategic thinking to keep your team aligned and your customers supported.
About the team
Our team is at the heart of AWS infrastructure, ensuring that the materials and equipment our data centers depend on are available, accounted for, and delivered efficiently. We operate in a fast-paced environment where precision and reliability matter, and we are always looking for smarter ways to manage our supply chain. We value an inclusive team culture where every voice is heard and new ideas are welcomed. If you are excited about building something meaningful at global scale, this is the team for you.
