About this job

Amazon FSx provides fully managed, high-performance file storage that powers some of the most critical workloads running on AWS today, from GPU-heavy AI/ML training to high-performance computing (HPC) and enterprise applications. We are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to own end-to-end delivery of programs that span multiple FSx engineering teams and partner organizations across AWS and other companies.

In this role, you will turn ambiguous, multi-quarter goals into plans with clear milestones, owners, and critical paths, then drive them to launch. You will go deep enough technically to challenge designs, broker trade-offs between teams, and recognize when a plan is off track before the schedule says so. This is not a status-reporting role. If you are a collaborative problem-solver who thrives on bringing order to complexity at cloud scale.

Key job responsibilities

  • Own the integrated plan for cross-team FSx programs, including scope, schedule, dependencies, risks, and critical path, from concept through general availability and regional expansion.
  • Partner with product managers, principal engineers, and software development managers to define and sequence the FSx technical roadmap, making explicit trade-offs between scope, date, and quality.
  • Manage dependencies on partner teams across AWS (EC2, networking, S3, EBS, identity, and infrastructure) and external companies.
  • Define and track the KPIs that matter for a storage service, such as launch predictability, capacity headroom, availability, latency, and operational load, and use them to drive durable improvements.
  • Drive operational excellence and automation programs that reduce undifferentiated work, including adoption of generative AI tooling across engineering teams, and communicate progress through crisp written narratives to Directors and VPs.

A day in the life

You start your morning reviewing service and program metrics for the FSx launches you own. By mid-morning, you are running a cross-functional alignment meeting with engineers and product managers, driving crisp decisions on competing priorities and surfacing risks early. After lunch, you join a technical design review where you pressure-test assumptions and help the team navigate a key architectural trade-off. Later, you draft a program update for senior AWS leadership, translating complex dependencies into clear recommendations and next steps.

About the team

You will work alongside product managers, principal engineers, and software development managers who are passionate about building cloud storage that customers depend on. We are focused on growing the service's capabilities and reach, and we value an inclusive environment where every team member can contribute and do their best work.
