About this job

The Customer Service Identity and Access Management team is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to lead our engineering efforts to secure hundreds of thousands of workforce users and hundreds of millions of customer interactions. We own the products that provide authentication, authorization, and account management functions that power one of the world's largest customer service organizations. We build the solutions that authenticate and authorize Customers contacting Amazon across every channel, as well as building the authorization solutions that secure Customer/Agentic interactions and transactions. Internally, we design the future of Customer data protection, ensuring Customer data is only available to a Customer Service Associate at the time of an authenticated contact, and that agentic access is guardrailed and authorized. Our solutions support hundreds of millions of authentications a year and billions of authorizations a day. We own the Strategy, we own the tooling, we own the designs, we own the product, we own the solution, we own the future.

In this role, you are the lead architect for the biggest and most complex Customer Service identify security projects. You are both a visionary leader, inventor, and a hands-on builder. You work on our hardest problems and are expected to pioneer new spaces and inspire others as to what's possible. Come be a part of this team and be a leader who secures the Customer and enables the future of the Business. Amazon is Customer Obsessed, and Customer Service is at the heart of that obsession. Come lead, build, design, and secure with us.

Key job responsibilities

· Own the multi-year security strategy for Customer Service Identity and Access Management (CSIAM), setting the technical direction for how hundreds of thousands of workforce users and hundreds of millions of customers are authenticated and authorized across every Customer Service contact channel.

· Lead the design and delivery of authentication, authorization, and account management solutions at scale, with the resilience and correctness one of the world's largest customer service organizations depends on.

· Define and refine the authorization models that secures customer and agentic interactions, governing how AI agents and associates act on a customer's behalf without eroding customer trust.

· Serve as the senior technical leader and escalation point for the team's most complex and ambiguous security problems, resolving them directly and through other engineers across multiple service teams.

· Evaluate and introduce emerging security technologies, inventing mechanisms that eliminate security tech debt and reduce risk at scale.

Communication and Ability To Influence Are Key!

· Communicate complex security risk and strategy clearly to both executive and deeply technical audiences while providing the technical insight that drives business reviews and roadmap decisions.

· Influence and align partner organizations, service owners, and leadership up to the VP level, negotiating security and business priorities and trade-offs while driving teams toward simple, coherent, secure designs.

· Mentor and raise the bar for security engineers org-wide, deepening the team's technical capability and cross-pollinating knowledge across partner organizations.
