About this job

Are you passionate about energy? Do you want to be part of a growing energy team working on exciting projects across the world that will have a lasting impact on AWS?

Amazon is seeking a results-oriented individual contributor Power Settlements Manager to lead and scale our global energy settlement operations across our renewable and data center energy portfolio. In this role, you will establish, audit, and continuously improve settlement processes and controls to ensure accurate validation of transactions (e.g. renewable project invoices, utility bills etc.) in a diverse and large energy portfolio. You will be the accountable owner of settlement validation activities — interpreting and translating complex contractual and tariff language, executing validation processes, driving dispute resolution, ensuring timely payments, and managing compliance controls across a large and growing volume of transactions. The ideal candidate is a builder and a doer who brings deep experience in PPA settlement structures, utility billing frameworks across diverse regulatory environments, ISO/RTO and non-market energy settlement, and global market exposure across APAC, EMEA, and AMER.

As a senior member of the team, you will train, mentor, and exercise oversight over junior team members while owning the most complex settlements in the portfolio. You will think strategically and tactically to identify simplification opportunities, close control gaps, and build robust processes, business intelligence, and reporting capabilities. We are looking for a strong program builder; someone who is a culture carrier who can hold the team accountable; and someone that has a proven track record of standing up settlement operations from the ground up.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead power settlement for our portfolio of renewable and utility agreements, including invoice and bill validation, reconciliations, dispute resolution, payments, and compliance controls.
  • Establish, audit, and continuously improve settlement processes and controls to ensure accurate, compliant, and scalable settlement validation practices.
  • Interpret and translate contractual and tariff language, matching them with energy market understanding to execute settlement processes.
  • Train, mentor, and exercise oversight over junior team members' work as the accountable owner of settlement validation activities
  • Support end-of-month financial close and controllership reporting, including performance analysis and business impact assessments across business units and customers
  • Partner with tech and product teams to advance settlement automation capabilities and drive further scale across Amazon's energy portfolio
  • Plan and execute operational improvement initiatives, continuously identifying simplification opportunities and closing control gaps
  • Manage settlement-related contractual obligations with counterparties and work collaboratively across Amazon teams to support broader energy financial controllership

About the team

The Energy Procurement Operations (EPO) team manages renewable and energy supply contracts post execution, provides controllership and governance of energy spend, tracks environmental attributes and ensures our energy supply portfolio is compliant with external regulations, contract obligations as well as internal policies. You will be a part of the team responsible for managing the world’s largest portfolio of corporate renewable contracts.
